The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic continues to threaten andchallenge the health of citizens and the economies of different countries,including Uganda. As at 13th April 2021, Uganda had registered a total of41,263 coronavirus cases; of these, 338 people have died. To date there arevaccines available for COVID-19, but the virus still poses an enormouschallenge to human health. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted plasticwastes and chemicals use of sanitizers in various forms. ACCC, with supportfrom IPEN, found it compelling to document the impact of the COVID-19pandemic on plastic wastes and chemicals in Uganda. The study wasconducted from October 2020-January 2021.This report, therefore, presents observations and findings made duringfield visits, focus group discussions (FGD) and strategic meetings with themembers in different communities and technical/policy makers. Field visitswere conducted in Nansana (Wakiso District) and Makerere Kavule, MakerereKikoni and Kawala (Kampala City). The literature reviewed was from secondarysources (online, library, reports of the media houses and policy documents).
