Summary

Background: The resurgence of interest in larvicides for vector control, particularly in combating malaria, is driven by research demonstrating their effectiveness in reducing mosquito populations. Findings: Studies have identified numerous plant extracts with photolarvicidal activity from plants like Rutaceae, Umbeliferae, and Asteraceae. These extracts are environmentally safe, biodegradable, and target-specific. Conclusion: The existing literature confirms the potential of several plant-derived photolarvicides for efficient and safe vector management.
