Summary
Background: COVID-19 disrupted immunisation services globally, including in Uganda. Despite the end of the acute phase of the pandemic, immunisation coverage has not returned to pre-pandemic levels in many districts. Findings: Factors impeding recovery include persistent vaccine hesitancy, supply chain disruptions, health worker capacity gaps, missed opportunities for catch-up vaccination, funding shortfalls, and community-level barriers. Conclusion: A targeted recovery plan addressing both service delivery bottlenecks and community demand is urgently needed to restore and exceed pre-pandemic immunisation coverage.
