Summary

Background: Motorcycle (boda boda) accidents are a leading cause of injury and death in Uganda. The rapid increase in motorcycle use without commensurate road safety measures has created a public health crisis. Findings: Effective strategies include mandatory helmet use and enforcement, rider licensing and training programs, road infrastructure improvements, speed management, alcohol enforcement, emergency response systems, and public awareness campaigns. Conclusion: A comprehensive road safety strategy combining enforcement, education, engineering, and emergency response is needed to curb motorcycle accident mortality.
