Summary

Background: Cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in Uganda. HPV screening rates in Mukono district remain far below targets despite availability of services. Findings: Effective interventions include community health worker outreach, self-sampling options, integrating screening into existing health services, mobile screening units, demand creation through sensitization, and addressing structural barriers such as transport costs. Conclusion: A combination of supply-side strengthening and demand-side interventions tailored to the local context is needed to significantly increase HPV screening uptake.
