What is the effect of counseling in unwanted pregnancy

Summary

Background: Unintended pregnancies affect a significant proportion of women worldwide, with a substantial number leading to induced abortions. In Uganda, a high prevalence of unintended pregnancies and a growing desire for smaller families contribute to this issue. Findings: Available evidence suggests that counseling can alleviate anxiety, aid in decision-making, and improve the likelihood of women seeking further healthcare services. Counseling is crucial for women who are ambivalent about their pregnancy. Conclusion: Counseling appears to be a valuable intervention for women experiencing unwanted pregnancies. There is a need for more rigorous research on the male partner's experience with counseling.
