Summary
Background: In low and middle-income countries, a significant proportion of maternal deaths are due to preventable obstetric complications. Physical access to healthcare remains a substantial barrier in many regions, including Uganda. Findings: Moving maternal delivery services to lower-level health centers improves access, reducing the distance, financial burden, and socio-cultural barriers for mothers and their families. Conclusion: Introducing deliveries at Health Center II improves maternal outcomes by enhancing healthcare accessibility, but these facilities must be adequately equipped and staffed.
